Pokie Time!

So last Saturdays game was quite a success. We had a turn out of 24 people, so three tables of 8, and the environment was extremely laid back and such a blast! I dealt the main table while the other two tables dealt for themselves until we condensed to 2 tables and Drake dealt with me. We threw in a nice hour dinner break around 6pm which everyone appreciated and I got to chat with some of our new players. Everyone new seemed to have a pretty good grasp of what they were doing (always relieving!) and everyone seemed to be really happy with our new poker room. Its gorgeous! Sometimes I go down there just to hang out now :) Hopefully we'll have another tournament soon. We are thinking about having a $100+10 tournament where 25% goes to the house because we need new poker chips like WHOA. I'm not sure how people will feel about the entire pot not going to the winners, but I feel like they should be okay with it because just about everyone comes and plays poker 1-3 times a week at our place, and so the chips are really for them... but who knows? I know if I was going to a house to play that often, I would love to chip in (no pun intended) for improvements for the environment I am constantly in! But that could just be me. What do you all think?

The cash game was AWESOME! The first time we have installed the .50/1 blinds and it went really well. We had about 12 players throughout the night, usually the table had 8 at it at a time. Lots of aggression, TONS of huge pots. We stocked the fridge with a zillion kinds of beer and ordered up some pizzas and everyone seemed to have a really great time. I can tell this game is going to be great throughout the winter. Nice cozy room with TVs and great music, beer pizza and tons of money being tossed around? Does it get better than that? So as for the tournament, we ended up with 17 players which is way less than we wanted, but what can you do? We all had a great time playing, and I feel like in these long tournaments we all really get to play to our best ability, as in if you get a bad beat, you still have time and chips to make it back, its not the end of the world. The grossest part of the night was when Scott FINALLY got a good amount of chips after folding for the last year and 1/2, and he re raises Mike on his right with AKh, and Mike calls him with A7s and gets the running flush to take him out. So close to the money to. Ah, such is poker, no? Hopefully we'll get more bigger tourneys going. This one was mostly for the sake of raising money for our new chips (which we totally didnt get enough for because we needed more players to reach our goal! BOO to those who didnt come!) but in the future, it will be sick! See you all on the felt!
